Play, save and publish
Play and test your level
Section titled “Play and test your level”Make sure the game is closed and click Play current level in the top-right corner of the level editor.
![]()
It launches the game with the level as last saved: unsaved changes are not included.
To save and play in one go, use File -> Save and run or press Ctrl+L.
Save your level
Section titled “Save your level”| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Save | Ctrl+S |
| Backup, save and launch | Ctrl+L |
| Save as… | Ctrl+Shift+S |
| Reload the current level | Ctrl+Shift+R |
| Open another level or archive | Ctrl+O |
Save as… on an original game level turns it into a custom level saved elsewhere. Saving over an original game file always asks for confirmation.
Export your level
Section titled “Export your level”The Export menu contains several options that can help reduce the size of your level archive.
Remove unused files
Section titled “Remove unused files”Remove unused files scans the archive and removes files that are no longer referenced.
Importing objects from another level can add many dependencies to your archive. Deleting those objects does not automatically remove their files, so running Remove unused files can help clean them up.
Compress and save
Section titled “Compress and save”Levels are saved uncompressed by default to make testing faster.
Before sharing a level, use Compress and save after removing unused files. This creates a smaller .pak archive.
Export to .mini.pak
Section titled “Export to .mini.pak”Export to .mini.pak (Default) creates a small version of a level archive, usually around 10 MB, containing only your custom changes and none of the original game assets.
This can greatly reduce download times when sharing a level.
The trade-off is that the first time a player loads the .mini.pak, the editor needs to rebuild the full archive by fetching all missing assets from the original game files, which can take a few seconds to a few minutes depending on the level complexity.
Play a .mini.pak level
Section titled “Play a .mini.pak level”You can play a .mini.pak level like any other using Play Custom Level.
The editor automatically rebuilds the full archive and saves it as <name>.full.pak.
You can delete the .mini.pak after the full archive has been created.
