Quickstart: play a custom level

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of Crash NST Maker installed.

  2. In the main menu, click Play Custom Level and select a .pak file anywhere on your computer.

  3. The game starts and loads the level directly. On Steam, a confirmation popup appears before the game launches. To stop seeing it, enable File → Skip Steam popup in the main menu.

Some creators bundle several levels behind a custom hub, a level that works like a warp room. Hubs need their level archives to be installed in a specific folder.

  1. Put the hub archive anywhere on your PC.

  2. Put all the level archives directly in the game’s archives/ folder, inside the game installation directory. Do not create a subfolder, and keep the file names exactly as the creator provided them: the hub refers to each level by its archive name.

  3. In the main menu, click Play Custom Level and select the hub archive.

When a hub is launched, the tool checks that every level it references is available and tells you which ones are missing, if any. When you finish or exit a level, the game brings you back to the hub.

Delete the level archives you added to the game’s archives/ folder, and the hub archive.

Creators can find the full procedure, including how to prepare each level archive and how to add level entrances, in Custom hubs and modpacks.
